Dedication
Because he loved and supported Billie in the same way, when Rick came into her life, Alice gratefully accepted Rick as the helpmate he was for a member of her family, and blessed the partnership. A week before she died, Alice asked Billie if she would go with her "to meet God" and Billie promised her she'd go as far as she could, holding her hand the whole way. Billie was able to keep that promise, a moment she will treasure forever. A week after Alice's funeral in July 2003, at which Rick was honored to serve as a pallbearer, Rick and Billie bred the *Nariadni granddaughter Romantyka to G Silk Boy, resulting the following year in the prettiest foal ever born on the farm. With love and respect, we named her Alices Star. Bill started failing almost immediately after he lost his life mate and wife of 57 years. For the last five years he suffered from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and increasing dementia, but his caregivers all loved him and he never lost his sense of humor. When he left us to go be with Mom in September 2008, Billie was holding his hand as well. We will always miss you both. Our lives will never be the same without you.
